Football University (www.footballuniversity.org)
trains the nation’s top youth athletes from around the country, with
former NFL coaches and athletes as instructors (who really instruct for
14 hours, not sign autographs).
The camp is the creation
of SportsLink, the owners and producers of the U.S. Army All-American
Bowl on NBC, which has featured the nation’s top high school stars, such
as Reggie Bush, Vince Young and Adrian Peterson.
Last year Football
University trained the quarterbacking sons of Joe Montana, Jim McMahon,
rapper Snoop Dog, actor Will Smith, Hall of Famer Frank Gifford and
North Carolina Head Coach Butch Davis.
After spending eight
years working with the nation’s top prep football players, FBU founders
built FBU’s Youth Division for the elite youth football player. This
division of FBU is designed specifically to develop football skill
before athletes begin their high school careers.
The featured instructors
at FBU have all coached or played in the NFL and share a passion to
teach. One of our featured quarterback instructors is Tom Martinez, who
trained Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady since he was 13 years old. Another FBU
instructor is 21 year NFL veteran quarterback Steve DeBerg, who has
worked with Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and University of Florida
sensation Chris Leak.
One unique feature that
FBU offers is the use of high definition slow motion video to break down
every athlete’s movement at 500 frames a second (check out the
demonstration on the web site at
www.air7qbu.com).
The basis for the camp
is to teach skill and technique – we assume our invited athletes have
strong or superior physical ability. It is a camp devoted to teaching,
not testing.
The goal is to teach
early in the off season so these athletes can build on this training
well before reporting to summer camp and prepare for the next level of
football.
The camp is really not
for everyone, but for those athlete’s who have demonstrated their
ability, share a passion to learn, and have chosen football as their
primary sport.
The invitation process is
intended to match our elite training with young athletes who are
physically ready and can benefit from it.
Before we begin camps
this weekend, we are asking you to please inform any exceptional
youth football players in your program, ages 6th grade to 8th
grade, of the FBU mini-camp (www.footbbaluniversity.org) and ask him to
submit a nomination if he feels his ability is right for our training.
We have a few youth spots remaining at each position.
The mini-camp in your
region will be June 13, 2008 – June 15, 2008 at Naperville North High
School. The Regional Director is Scott Rogala and he can be reached at
(312) 543-5969.
Other primary instructors
for Football University include former running back Blair Thomas (Jets),
former defensive back Perry Williams (Giants), former Punter Bill Renner
(Packers), former lineman Irv Eatman (Chiefs) and former linebacker
Levon Kirkland (Steelers). These instructors will teach our invited
athletes for 14 hours over three days. (It is not an autograph
session!).
Please let us know
especially about your youth linemen, punters and kickers, as those
positions are challenging to identify for us and will typically be
filled last.
The fee for the camp
averages $40 per hour for 14 hours. Financial scholarships are
available for athletes who qualify and payments can be broken down into
monthly payments, if needed. We do not want any obstacles to this
training so we have developed flexible payment programs if needed.
Please call us if you
have any questions at Krystal McCullen at 973-366-8448 ext. 248.
Thanks
